Destructive in the house, jumping on family and visitors, barking at everything. His family’s review ends with the line that matters: Jax gets to stay.

Where Jax started
Jax’s family described three problems in their review: he was destructive in the house, he jumped on family and visitors, and he barked at everything. Any one of those wears a household down. All three together had put a real question on the table, because Mindy wrote that the training is what “allows Jax to stay in our home.”
The training journey
Jax stayed and trained with Carissa at Off Leash K9 Training Columbus. The family was heading out of state, so she took him in a little before his training officially began. Mindy called that kind, and it is the sort of thing that makes handing over your dog a lot easier.
Every day Carissa sent a video. The family looked forward to them at the end of the day, and Mindy wrote that they “could see the difference in his behavior in the videos within days.” Mindy noticed something else in those videos too: “In every video his tail was so happy.”
When Jax came home, Carissa met with the whole family. Mindy’s husband has a service dog and is used to giving commands. Mindy and their son were not. Mindy wrote that Carissa was very patient with the two of them.
What actually changed
- No more destruction. Jax is “no longer” destructive in the house.
- No more jumping. Not on family, and not on visitors.
- No more barking at everything.
★★★★★
“We could see the difference in his behavior in the videos within days! […] It was evident that Jax was in great care while we were gone! In every video his tail was so happy. […] We are very thankful for the time and dedication that she put into Jax. This allows Jax to stay in our home and no longer be destructive, no longer jumping on family or visitors and no longer barking at everything! What a wonderful change!”

What it changed for the family
Mindy summed it up in four words: “What a wonderful change!” Jax stays in his home.
Why Jax’s story matters to us
The handoff is the part of training people do not expect to matter so much. A dog who listens to a trainer and not to his family has not really been trained. That is why we take our time with the people at the handoff, not just the dog, and why Mindy’s note about Carissa’s patience means a lot to us.
Before and after
Jax was destructive in the house, jumped on family and visitors and barked at everything. After training with Carissa, all three problems stopped and Jax stays in his home.
