One of Jennifer’s dogs was so out of control that Jennifer fell twice on walks, and the dog was hit by a car. Eight weeks later Jennifer walks both dogs alone.
Two dogs · Trained by Carissa · Eight-week program
Where they started
Jennifer came to us with two dogs. One of them, in Jennifer’s words, was “so out of control (not vicious, just crazy)” that walks had become dangerous. The dog caused Jennifer to fall twice. Then the dog was hit by a car. Luckily, the dog was not hurt.
That is the kind of moment that brings a family to training. Nobody was dealing with a mean dog. They were dealing with an excited dog who had never learned how to listen when the world got interesting.
The training journey
Both dogs trained with Carissa, one of our trainers at Off Leash K9 Training Columbus, over an eight-week program. Working with both dogs mattered. A calm dog and a wild dog on the same walk is still a hard walk, so the goal was a household where either dog, or both, could go out the door safely.
Jennifer’s review does not walk through the program week by week, and we will not fill that in. What the review describes is where they ended up.
What actually changed
- Jennifer walks both dogs alone. Jennifer’s words: “I can walk both dogs by myself with no issues.”
- The dog who could not be taken anywhere now goes out in public. The family takes her to wineries and other public places.
- A camping trip went well. Jennifer wrote that on a recent weekend away both dogs did great at the campsite.
★★★★★
“One of our dogs was so out of control (not vicious, just crazy), that she caused me to fall twice on walks and ended up getting herself hit by a car. Luckily she had no injuries. After going through the 8 week program at off leash, we are able to take her to wineries and out in public places. I can walk both dogs by myself with no issues.”

What it changed for the family
A dog who is too wild to walk safely is a dog who stays home. The biggest change in Jennifer’s review is not a command. It is the list of places the dogs now get to go: walks, wineries, a campsite. Training gave them their outings back.
Why this story matters to us
A wild, excitable dog can seem like a small problem until someone gets hurt. We would much rather meet a dog like this before the falls and the accident than after. If walks with your dog have started to feel unsafe, that is exactly what our obedience programs are built for.
Before and after
One of Jennifer’s two dogs was so out of control that Jennifer fell twice on walks, and the dog was hit by a car. After an eight-week program with Carissa, Jennifer walks both dogs alone and the family takes that dog to wineries and public places.
Calm, safe walks are one of the first things we work on in our private obedience lessons. For a faster path, look at board and train. Every program and price is on our pricing page.
