Dog Trainers in Pickerington, OH

Pickerington, the Violet Capital of Ohio, sits just east of Columbus and reaches across Fairfield and Franklin counties. Off Leash K9 Training Columbus helps dog owners here with the everyday problems that make a dog hard to take anywhere: pulling, jumping, not listening, and reacting to other dogs.

Places to Practice In and Around Pickerington

The Violet Township Dog Park is near the corner of North Center Street and Stemen Road, beside the township’s Service Center. Before going in is a good time to ask for a sit and a calm wait.

Pickerington Ponds Metro Park, known for its wetlands, has specific rules for dogs. Pets are allowed on the paved Blacklick Creek Greenway and Burning Lake trails and the grassy Paw Paw Pet Trail, as well as picnic areas and parking lots, on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Those three trails give you plenty of room to work on heel and focus. Check the Metro Parks rules before you go, since they can change.

Dog Training Programs for Pickerington Families

Which program fits depends on what you are seeing. A dog that struggles around other dogs usually needs a different plan from a dog that just needs manners.

Where You Will Meet Us

Our facility is at 5640 Groveport Rd, Unit 3, Groveport, OH 43125. Visits are by appointment. Private lessons are held there, because a dog that listens only in its own home has not finished learning. Training somewhere new teaches your dog to listen around distractions.

Questions From Pickerington Dog Owners

My dog barks and lunges at other dogs. Which program is right?

Start with our Dog Aggression & Reactivity program. It is nine lessons of basic obedience plus work in the situations your dog finds hard. Some dogs need a muzzle, which is not included, and we will talk you through sizing and muzzle training.

Can a reactive dog go to the 2 Week Board and Train?

That program is not designed for dogs with behavioral issues. Call us and describe what your dog is doing, and we will point you to the right program.

Is there a wait for board and train?

Our 2 Week Board and Train typically has a wait list, so please contact us before paying online. We can tell you what the schedule looks like.
