Dog Trainers in Grove City, OH

Dog owners in Grove City have two very different places to take a dog: a fenced off-leash park in town and a big riverside Metro Park down Jackson Pike. Off Leash K9 Training Columbus helps southwest-side families get a dog ready for both, with training that carries over from the lesson to the trail.

Where Grove City Dogs Put Training to Work

Breck Community Park at 3005 Demorest Rd is home to the city’s dog park, with separate off-leash areas for large and small dogs. For a dog still learning to come when called, the walk from the car to the gate is often the real test, and a good place to practice a calm heel and waiting politely before going in.

Scioto Grove Metro Park at 5172 Jackson Pike sits on a bend of the Scioto River. Leashed dogs are welcome in all areas, on a leash no longer than 6 feet. The paved Multipurpose Trail makes an easy start for loose leash walking, and the natural-surface REI River Trail along the water adds the sights and smells that test a dog’s focus.

Coming to Us From Grove City

Our training facility is on the south side of the Columbus area at 5640 Groveport Rd, Unit 3, Groveport, OH 43125. Visits are by appointment. Private lessons take place at the facility, so your dog learns in a place with new distractions, and then you take those skills back to Breck and Scioto Grove.

Questions From Grove City Dog Owners

I have a small dog. Is training still worth it?

Yes. Small dogs need training as much as big ones. It builds confidence and manners, and it helps head off barking and nipping. Breck Community Park even has its own off-leash area for small dogs, which makes it a useful place to practice once your dog has the basics.

How much will I have to practice between lessons?

We recommend about an hour a day while you are in lessons, and it can be broken into shorter sessions. A few short walks on the paved trail at Scioto Grove count. If that much time is hard to find, our board and train programs may fit better.

Will lessons get my dog walking nicely on a 6-foot leash?

Loose leash walking is part of our Basic Obedience lessons, along with come, sit, down, place and off. Those skills are what make a leash rule like the one at Scioto Grove easy to follow.
